Minister: Gazprom rejects Ukraine’s requests for good gas price
KIEV, Jun 8 (PRIME) -- Ukraine’s state-owned energy company Naftogaz Ukrainy files requests every three months that Russian gas giant Gazprom sell natural gas to the company at a price that is economically sound for Ukraine, but Gazprom rejects every request, Energy Minister Igor Nasalik told reporters Wednesday.
“Naftogaz provides (a request) to Gazprom every three months that it is ready to buy the gas at a price…which is economically profitable. It is understandable that Gazprom rejects them,” he said.
On Tuesday, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said Naftogaz Ukrainy has applied to resume gas supplies in the second half of the year and the first quarter of next year.
Kiev suspended purchases of Russian gas in late November 2015 due to price disagreements.
Naftogaz Ukrainy said it offered Gazprom to sign a supplement to the contract on gas supplies for the next three quarters.
